The move the football world was waiting for finally happened today, Aaron Rodgers has signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburg Steelers.  Not a shocking move after all this move has been rumored all spring.  The noise only got louder after the Steelers did not draft Shedeur Sanders and rather waited till the 6th round to select Will Howard out of Ohio State.  Now that the wait is over what does the team look like, and what other needs still need to be addressed.

The Steelers quarterback room now has a veteran leader with Aaron Rodgers, and solid backup in Mason Rudolph.  Then there is Skylar Thompson who came over from Miami after three years, with little experience on the field.  The QB room is rounded out with the rookie Will Howard who led Ohio State to a national championship in 2024.  No matter what you think about Rodgers and his ability at this stage of his career, he is a good fit for the Steelers currently.

The real question is what else the Steelers need to do; the team is also lacking experience in the running back and wide receiver rooms.  They drafted Kaleb Johnson in the 3rd round of the draft and still have Jaylen Warren who has been waiting in the wings to take over after playing behind Najee Harris for the past 3 years.  There are still veteran running backs available like Nick Chubb, J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards.  Any one of these veterans could bring some leadership and depth for the RB room.  The wide receiver room got a bump when they signed DK Metcalf, but then they went and traded away George Pickens to the Cowboys.  Just like the RBs there are still some quality veteran wide receivers left in free agency Amari Cooper, Keenan Allen and Gabe Davis.  These veteran wide receivers would provide the depth the Steelers need in the WR room.  There is also the possibility that they would reach out to the Jets and try and make a deal for one of Rodgers favorite targets with Allen Lazard.
