2025 TIGHT END FREE AGENTS FOR YOUR FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM
The tight end position is one of the most overlooked and underrated positions in fantasy football. Unless you are willing to give up a second or third round pick to get a top tier tight end you will usually mail it in till the later rounds and just grab whatever is left. Is this really the best strategy when it comes to assembling a championship roster? That’s a question for another day, first let’s look at the tight end free agents for 2025 and how they will affect your fantasy football lineup.

Before we take a look at the free agents for the tight end position, let’s get a little perspective by looking at the top performers at the position. In 2024 the tight end position only had three players put up 1000+ yard season including Brock Bower, Trey McBride and George Kittle. These are the players that you will have to sacrifice a top 5 draft pick if you want on your roster.
Our six pack of top free agent tight ends was led by Zach Ertz who finished 7th overall in fantasy points at the tight end position in PPR scoring. Ertz had a great year in Washington he finished with 10 games of double digit scoring and averaged 10 pts per game. If you can lock in a tight end for 10 points or more any fantasy owner would be happy. Ertz had some familiarity with the offense in Washington having played for Kliff Kingsbury in Arizona. I would not be surprised if Washington decides to bring back Ertz for another season. If he is available in your dynasty league you should scoop him up, as for redraft leagues, he is a guy who will probably be available later on and would be a value late in the draft.
After Ertz there was not another free agent tight end that you could plug into your lineup and play every week. If you found yourself in a streaming situation you may have grabbed Gesicki, Johnson or Conklin to fill in for a bye week. All three of these guys had good weeks sprinkled in throughout the season, but you could not rely on a good performance every week. As far as where they may end up in free agency, it’s hard to say. Most of the remainder of the list is not fantasy relevant for redraft leagues, these guys are at best a bye week fill in at the position. However, in dynasty, depending on your league you may take a look at these remaining players and take a shot that one will be on the move after free agency begins. I would not pick them up until they sign somewhere, and you can determine their value in a new system.
