FANTASY FOOTBALL DYNASTY QB STASHES FOR 2025
When your playing fantasy football, you are always looking for an edge. When you are playing dynasty fantasy football, that edge comes from the rookie draft or free agents. So, when the season ends you head to the waiver wire and see who is left out there and who has potential that you can stash for the next season. In dynasty fantasy football quarterback is one of the most important positions, especially if you are in a super flex league.
The first stash is Josh Dobbs who played the 2024 season in San Francisco behind Brock Purdy. He was on a one-year deal and set to be a free agent in 2025. This year Dobbs only saw action in 2 games at the end of the season, week 17 he got 8% of the snaps against Detroit and completed 3 of 4 passes for 35 yards. Dobbs also added a run for 7 yards and a touchdown. The next week Dobbs played the full game against Arizona with an impressive performance. He tallied 29 completions out of 43 passes for 326 yards with 2 passing touchdowns, and added 8 runs for 17 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Dobbs was coming off a career year in Minnesota when he finished with 2464 passing yards, 421 rushing yards and 19 total touchdowns. The big factor in this super stash is his landing spot, with several teams in need of a QB Dobbs is the kind of player who could end up being a starter while a rookie draft pick gets acclimated to the NFL.
The next quarterback stash is a bit more of a long shot Stetson Bennett of the Los Angeles Rams. First let’s look at Matthew Stafford, who will be 37 at the start of the 2025 season, and his contract allows for a potential out after the 2024 season. Don’t get me wrong Stafford has played great; it’s more of a question of how much longer he plans on playing. The Rams went out and signed Jimmy Garoppolo to a 1-year deal for 2024 and kept Bennett as the 3rd emergency quarterback. Bennett was drafted in the 2023 NFL draft in the 4th round, then spent his first year on the “reserve / non-football injury list” and did not see the field. In 2024 Bennett saw some action in the preseason but put up average stats and did nothing to improve his standing. The question is when 2025 rolls around will Bennett get his shot, and what will happen with Stafford and Garoppolo? As I said it’s a long shot, but it will really depend on his performance in the off season and preseason for the 2025 season.
The final stash is the group of crafty veterans including Joe Flacco, Jameis Winston, and Andy Dalton. All three of these quarterbacks are set to be free agents for the 2025 season. These three have all enjoyed successful starts over the past two seasons. While they have all been spot starts for injury or benching reasons, they all stepped up and put up big fantasy numbers. Let’s start with Flacco, in 2023 he came in to start at the end of the season for Cleaveland playing in 5 games. In that small sample size, he threw for 1626 yards and 13 touchdowns and finished as the QB32 on the season. 2024 was not quite as good in 8 games he had 1761 yards and 12 touchdowns and finished as the QB35 on the season in Indy. 2024 in a similar situation in Cleveland Jameis Winston stepped into the starting role for 12 games and finished with 2121 yards, and 13 touchdowns and finished as the QB28 overall. Andy Dalton had a smaller sample size but still enjoyed success in 5 games started in Carolina he had good fantasy finishes in 3 of the 5. He finished with 989 yards and 7 touchdowns, while rushing for 34 yards. All three of these veteran quarterbacks still have value, and depending on their landing spots after free agency it could be as a starter or a backup. No matter where they land, I have no doubt that at some point during the 2025 season all three of these men will step on to the field as a starter and put up big numbers. So, if they are available in your dynasty league scoop them up and stash them for the next season.
