RAIDERS NEWS – HIRE GM & COACH

The Raider kick started their off season by hiring a new general manager, John Spytek, and a new coach in Pete Carol.

John Spytek was previously employed as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Assistant General Manager. Spytek has ties with Tom Brady who seems to be very involved with the Raiders new hires.  While Brady was playing for the Buccaneers from 2020 – 22 Spytek was working in the Bucs front office as the director of player personnel.  If that was not good enough to prove that Brady is steering the ship in Las Vegas, Spytek was also teammates with Brady at Michigan.  There was some speculation that Spytek would try to bring the Bucks offensive coordinator Liam Coen with him to the Raiders as the head coach.

The Raiders went in a different direction and hired Pete Carroll the 73-year-old former coach of the Seattle Seahawks.  Carroll was the head coach for the Seahawks for 14 years and his tenure there was highlighted with a Super Bowl win in 2013.  Before he made his debut in the NFL Carroll started his coaching career at the University of the Pacific in 1971 and has made several stops both in the college arena and the NFL along the way.  It is hopeful that a coach with his career and experience can bring some leadership to a franchise that has had 13 different coaches over the past 25 years.  That includes multiple stints with Jon Gruden at the helm.  Where ever Carroll has coached he has brought a winning culture, and that is what Las Vegas is in need of.
